Q-Filter® is used for the filtration of aqueous fluids and uses filter cloth from a roll, in combination with vacuum, to remove particles from aqueous media. As the dirt builds up on the filter cloth, the vacuum in the clean tank is increased to continu filtration. When the vacuum reaches the maximum, the filter cloth is indexed to make some new filter cloth available for filtration.
Q-Filter® creates an underpressure of up to -200 mbar and continuously increases and decreases the vacuum, in response to the process conditions, for optimal performance. The system automatically adjusts to fluctuations in the amount of fluid coming, the nature and amount of dirt in the fluid and the fliter cake build up on the filter cloth.
The following features are characteristic for the Q-Filter® systems. As a result of these features it is possible to filter down to very low particle sizes without high filter cloth usage and filtration cost. This makes Q-Filter® the perfect solution for applications like high pressure deburring, high pressure cleaning, aqueous cleaning baths, machine coolants and emulsions and many more.

- The two chambers, A (dirty chamber) and B (clean chamber), positioned above each other, are separated by the filter cloth (2) which is supported by the sieve plate (1).
- Polluted medium flows through the inlet (3) into chamber A and through the filter cloth into chamber B, where pump (4) pumps off the clean fluid.
- Dirt accumulates on the filter cloth and forms a cake, which causes the resistance to increase and the level in A to rise. If a previously set level is reached, vacuum pump (5) kicks in and creates under pressure in chamber B, causing the medium to be sucked through the cloth and preventing the level in A to rise any further.
- As the filter cake on the cloth grows and the resistance increases, the under pressure in chamber B is further increased until a set maximum, at which point the cloth is forwarded over a short distance by turning wheels (6).
- Used cloth (7) comes out at the right while fresh cloth is pulled from roll (8), into the device. Than the cycle starts over again.

Placing a new roll in minutes:
- Cut off the old cloth.
- Unwrap approximately 1 meter from the roll.
- Slide the beginning of the new cloth under the old cloth.
- Press down the old cloth on the new one.
- Start the transport mechanism with the foot switch.
- The new cloth is simply pulled into the machine.
- The wet cloth comes on to drainage box (1).
- When drying, the vacuum pump (2) pulls in air (3) through the wet cloth and the drainage box and that way pulls fluid out of the cloth. The fluid ends up in chamber B.
- To further dry the cloth, the exhaust air from the vacuum pump is blown from the bottom up along the free hanging section (4) of the cloth.
The Q-Filter® is provided with its own dedicated controller which is an essential part of the Q-Filter® system. The controller software includes the special routines and algorithems which are responsible for the dynamic behaviour and self-adjusting feature of the Q-Filter®.
For the controller hardware a standard Siemens Logo! is used. To ensure maximum availability and warrant optimal performance, the software has been protected and is not user accessible. For the same reason it is not possible to make any changes to the software or add functionality or use different hardware.
All equipment is mounted behind the covers to protect it. The covers can easily be removed to provide free access to all items for maintenance and trouble shooting.
